3 must-know shifts for Strategy Execution in 2025

The way organisations execute strategy is changing. New technologies, complex operating environments, and rising expectations mean leaders need to rethink how they move from plan to result.

Here are 3 shifts in how successful execution is getting done in 2025, drawn from real work with executive teams implementing strategic improvements.

1. Speed Helps Build Trust

Quick, visible progress gives people confidence in the strategy

When your Board or your team see things moving forward quickly after a decision is made, it reinforces belief in the direction and the leadership behind it. It is not OK to wait, as things are changing too rapidly in our ecosystem.

2. Resistance Is Useful Information

It shows you where people are paying attention, and where to focus next

People are overwhelmed right now. More than usual. When they push back, it’s not always a problem. It can help you understand what’s not landing well, and where communication or involvement needs to improve to support people dealing with overwhelm.

3. Human Change is more significant than Digital

People are worrying about their decaying skills and feel insecure about their future

It is easy to feel FOMO when AI and technology is changing so fast. Few companies are approaching this holistically. You will stand out as a leader if you support your team to move forward. For example, a Tech VP has asked me to talk at their upcoming company conference – I’m presenting the keynote “Brave the Change, Lead with AI”. People need to know they’re not alone, and be given the knowledge and tools to create a viable future for themselves.

These 3 shifts are already influencing how leading organisations run their strategy cycles and transformation projects. If you’re updating your execution approach this quarter, working with new strategy sponsors, or need your team to upskill, I’m happy to talk.

If you’re not climbing, you’re sliding.”
